Just in case anybody’s out there biting their nails over my state of health (I’m looking at you, Julian!), thought I leave a quick note to say everything went fine. They wheeled me into the OR yesterday at 9:15 AM and by 11:30 I was in the car on the way home (not driving, of course). I slept pretty well and haven’t had any trouble eating, so already I’m doing better than my poor sister-in-law Heidi, who I gather is still having a rough go of it nearly a month post-op.
My pal Ray was a real sweetheart and gave me a call from sunny Palo Alto last night, which was a real mood-lifter, too. Thanks, Ray! Planning on taking it slow and skipping work the rest of the week. We’ll see how it goes after that. So far the toughest part is dealing with Grace’s sad looks when I won’t pick her up. She’s hard to resist, but the last thing I need is a return to the OR for a hernia repair.
BTW, it’s kind of depressing to have to add “health” to the category list on this blog. You know you’re getting old when you start blogging about your aches and pains.
